Machine: Tsugami CNC Lathe

The Situation

A manufacturer of aerospace gearing components had a requirement to verify that certain features were consistently created on the parts they produced. Additionally, their customer required traceability of the parts and archiving of production data. The currently implemented solution of manual inspection & data recording was costly, time consuming, and subject to both error and operator bias.

The Solution

Caron Engineering provided the TMAC system to simultaneously monitor and record the cutting power and force used by the tools in the machine. TMAC also measures and saves the coolant flow and pressure being delivered to the workpiece. Both the verification and archival requirements were met.

TMAC exceeded the customer’s expectations by providing additional process capacity which resulted in increased production, by using the adaptive control feature to decrease part cycle time.
