Machine: Horizontal CNC Machining Center
A manufacturer of landing gear components was peck drilling six “through” holes in two parts on a horizontal CNC machining center. A 3.5mm dia. x 133mm length drill was being fed very slowly to reduce the possibility of deflection. The cycle time to complete this two part process was 18 minutes and 15 seconds.
Caron Engineering’s TMAC MP system was implemented to measure the power load at the spindle. A baseline was established from which safe cutting load conditions were determined and programmed into the system. The result was an increase in both the cutting feedrate and the aircut feedrates.

The use of TMAC allowed the programmer to re-evaluate the machining methods and optimize some feedrates & moves.
